Wamp: Republican Economic Policies Working

Growing the economy and reducing the federal deficit to its lowest level in four years, Republican policies have proven effective.

In February 2004, the budget deficit was predicted to grow to over $521 billion. Now, three years ahead of the 2009 goal, that figure has been cut in half, less than 2 percent of the GDP and below the 2.7 percent GDP average of the last 40 years.

Republicans in Congress boosted the economy by cutting taxes and ending programs that don't work. More than 6.6 million jobs have been created, unemployment is at a low 4.6 percent, wages are growing, and the stock market is hitting new records. These are strong signs of a strong economy.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury released these figures for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30.

The pro-growth policies and spending restraint of Conservatives work, and the country is reaping the benefits.
