7 Third District Students Selected For Service Academies
May 26, 2008

Seven students from Tennessee’s Third District were nominated by Congressman Zach Wamp and selected by three of the country’s service academies to begin their studies this summer.

“Attending one of America’s military academies is a challenging and unique experience in higher education,” said Congressman Wamp. “Each of these students excels in academics, extracurricular activities and various leadership positions. They are also bound by the common bond of commitment to serve our country with honor and valor. It is an honor to nominate these students and I applaud this important choice in their lives and for our country.”

Each year, Congressman Wamp has the privilege to nominate outstanding high school students from Tennessee’s Third District to qualify for appointments to the service academies, including the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Naval Academy. Once a student is nominated, each academy conducts its own review and decides whether to offer an appointment.
